Meet Faaiz

Your Candidate for Harrow Road Councillor

Having grown up in Lahore, not long after their wedding, Faaiz and his wife Amina moved to London in 1997 just at the end of the Thatcherite/Major era to make a fresh life for themselves in the United Kingdom and brought up their children in the UK as well.

Since the early 2000’s, they are also both active participants in campaigning, having grown up in a socially and politically active family.

Not long after the family had become British subjects, Faaiz observed the British intervention into Iraq and that so many policies aimed to support large businesses rather than people. This clearly marked a new era in politics, with Labour having abandoned its traditional supporters and had left behind those in need so they might impress the corporate world and powerful lobbyists..

Thus started a path towards the Green Party.

For Faaiz and his whole family a key moment was volunteering in 2015 in the “Jungle” camp near Calais and talking to so many people who had escaped from Syria, Afghanistan, and Libya and were unfortunately stuck between a host country (France) that did not welcome them and a country across the channel attempting to wish away need for asylum created by its own military engagement and other political actions. After volunteering another time to help in Calais, Faaiz and family were on a path that led them to the Green Party as the only party genuinely committed to those in need.

My Vision for Harrow Road

Since 1997 Faaiz has lived in Westminster and cares deeply that local government supports those in need and focuses on the needs of the people rather than building careers – and this is the moment that Faaiz, backed by his family, wishes to give back to all communities, to be in meaningful public service for the people of Harrow Road.

Why I'm Running

I’m running for Harrow Road Councillor because I believe that every resident deserves to have their voice heard. Too often, decisions are made without considering the needs of those most affected. I aim to be a representative who listens, understands, and acts on behalf of the entire community.
